/ Accreditation

The Greyhound Welfare and Integrity Commission is developing a new registration and accreditation scheme. The new framework will mean whoever is responsible for the care of a greyhound has clearly understood obligations and will be required to possess knowledge and skills required to obtain and retain their registration.

The accreditation scheme will apply to:

  • owners
  • breeders
  • rearers
  • educators
  • trainers
  • attendants
  • whelpers

The accreditation scheme will take into account responsible breeding practices which will result in more considered decisions about sires, brood bitches and mating, and in the approach to early care of greyhounds, to increase the proportion of greyhounds bred that race competitively.
