A greyhound is defined as a greyhound kept by a registered NSW greyhound racing industry participant. It does not
include greyhounds owned by people outside the industry.

The industry greyhound population as at 30 June 2022 is estimated to be 24,893 of which 48% are registered for
racing, 37% are not yet racing and 15% are retired.

Note: 'Racing' greyhounds include greyhounds that belong to a NSW registered owner, syndicate or group and/or located in NSW and are actively racing or have raced in the last year.
